Car insurance savings
From time to time, in DriveScore marketing communication, you will see claims such as “Users with a good DriveScore could save up to £431 on their car insurance.”
This is made up of two parts:
1. Savings that can be made by comparing prices from different products
We analysed 325,141 car insurance searches from January to July 2025. We compared the cheapest premium with the average of the next six cheapest. Half of users saw a saving of at least £280. This analysis excludes any additional savings users could make from sharing a good DriveScore.
2. Savings that can be made by sharing a good DriveScore
We analysed 277,884 car insurance searches from January to July 2025. Users with a good DriveScore can receive an additional discount on their car insurance. When users shared a good DriveScore (>750), half of user's saw a saving of at least £151.
The £431 saving quoted as a car insurance saving is the sum of £280 (1) and £151 (2).
DriveScore Halo subscription savings
From time to time, in DriveScore marketing communication, you will see claims such as “Users can save on average £X per year with DriveScore Halo.”
Savings compared with buying cover separately
DriveScore Halo offers insurance products rolled into a single subscription, with a single price. To assess the savings offered by this package, we have, for each Halo tier (Core, Enhanced, and Max), analysed the mean price of each constituent product and combined those together (as is done for Halo) to compare the price of each Halo tier to the equivalent price of comparable cover through non-Halo routes. In this case, “comparable” cover meant insurance products rated 2 stars or higher on Defaqto.
Sources & Data Collection Period
For each tier, we generated quotes from price comparison websites and direct-from-insurer for each individual product (for sources, see bottom of page). Quotes were collected between the 27th of September and 3rd October 2025.
From the quotes, we calculated the mean cost savings for each tier, and compared them with the DriveScore Halo bundle prices to determine the potential overall savings amount. The quoted subscription saving reflects the difference between the average cost of buying products separately and the bundled price.
Average annual savings:
- Core: £37.66
- Enhanced: £94.66
- Max: £238.02
Below you can see a summary of the savings in both £ saving and percentage.
These savings values are typical averages from a range of sources, and are not guaranteed. Individual savings are variable, and not every customer can save this amount.
Tier | Annual Halo subscription price | Average annual price of purchasing items individually | Average annual saving* | % saving |
Core | £59.88 | £97.54 | £37.66 | 39% |
Enhanced | £119.88 | £214.54 | £94.66 | 44% |
Max | £239.88 | £477.90 | £238.02 | 50% |
