DriveScore measures how distracted you are while you're driving – by seeing how you interact with your phone during a trip. This is an important measure of your safety, as phone distraction is one of the biggest dangers on the roads today.
Sometimes other people in your car might use your phone while you're driving but DriveScore can't tell the difference.
Here are some tips to avoid getting phone distraction events on your drives:
- Use your car's media device if you can - like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. This won't set off a phone distraction event as you're not directly using your phone.
- Ask passengers to use their own devices. For example, if you're road-tripping, consider getting a passenger to connect their device to the Bluetooth for the music.
- If you need to use your phone for a call, text, or to change your navigation settings, never do this while driving. Pull over where it's legal, safe and appropriate to do so. Do what you need to do and start driving again safely.
